Equinox sax ensemble gave the first performance of Nigel Wood's 'Partial Eclipse' to a capacity crowd at the charity concert in Keyworth on 17th November.

Composer and saxophonist Nigel Wood attended the performance of his unique new piece for EWI and saxes, which has also been recorded by the group. Nigel was more than happy with the result;  "I'm really pleased and impressed how well Partial Eclipse sounds. The blend between the EWI and saxes works even better than I'd envisaged."

Other pieces from the group's CD also featured in a varied programme, which included music from the baroque era, in Albinoni's Oboe Concerto in D minor, Percy Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy and a demonstration of the electronic wind instrument (EWI).  In the second half the group performed a number of pieces with a celtic flavour, including Alun  Cook's Boris Goes to Dublin, finishing with a rousing rendition of Richard Ingham's Mrs Malcolm, Her Reel.
